Notification from the Operation Management Unit of the Civil Protection and Emergency Management Authorities in NV Iceland

Due to suspicion of a considerable number of infections in the municipality of Húnaþing Vestra it has been decided that increased actions need to be put in place in order to contain further epidemic distribution.

From 22:00 on Saturday 21. March 2020 all inhabitants of the municipality shall be quarantined until the source of the infection has been traced. The quarantine entails that only one individual from each home can leave to collect necessaries. The quarantine does not apply for vital operations, e.g. nursing homes, hospitals and distribution and handling of food and fuel. This decision will be in place until the Operation Management Unit notifices of a change.

At the same time the general ban of gathering, that has already been advertised, is in place, with the amendment that the maximum number of people that are allowed to come together in the municipality of Húnaþing Vestra is five.

We ask the public to show the social responsibility of following these rules and not leave their homes unless absolutely necessary.
